Provincial Fact Sheets: Grades 6 to 12
The Student Wellness Survey had over 33,000 students from 184 middle and high schools in both Anglophone and Francophone sectors, completed the NB Student Wellness Survey 06-07.
This initiative has been made possible through the partnerships between the University of New Brunswick, l’ Université de Moncton, University of Waterloo, Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport and the Department of Education.
By July 2007, all schools received access to their individual school feedback reports, which focus on healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco use and mental fitness.
Beginning in September 2007, HERG visited each school district presenting the highlights of their district feedback reports and discussing how to use the information for planning and evaluating their wellness activities. Follow-up meetings will held as requested.
In December 2007 & January 2008 HERG hosted separate workshops for the Anglophone and Francophone education sectors, inviting middle school teachers and district staff with expertise in their respective curriculum areas.
These workshops focused on the development of learning ideas, connecting with the results of the survey feedback reports to the provincial curriculum outcomes in each sector. School wellness champions have been contacted to encourage them to access and use their feedback reports (Sept & Dec 2007).
This spring, HERG will contact each school to inquire on their progress. The goal of this initiative is to assist schools, districts and the province in using the data from their feedback reports in School Improvement Plans, District Improvement Plans and Provincial Education Plans.
