About HERG

HERGThe Health and Education Research Group (HERG) is located at the University of New Brunswick in the Faculty of Education. HERG is led by two executive directors, Dr. Bill Morrison and Dr. Patti Kirby, who also serve as Faculty members in Educational Psychology at UNB. HERG employs ten staff members who have extensive backgrounds in wellness, education, health, and knowledge translation.

The work of the research group also provides opportunities for UNB graduate students to be involved with various projects within their areas of study.

Currently, HERG projects encompass several themes, including student wellness, resiliency in at-risk youth, workplace mental fitness, and early childhood program evaluation.

Through these projects, university research expertise is linked with local, provincial and federal health and education authorities.

A primary goal is the development of applied health and education research initiatives that may be used to inform practice and policy development, and to provide consultation to community, provincial and federal authorities on better practices to address priority needs and service delivery issues.
